Chadwick Boseman's Family Reacts to His Oscars 2021 Best Actor Loss

Chadwick Boseman did not win the Best Actor 2021 Academy Award for his work in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Now, his family is reacting to the loss – which many in Hollywood are labeling a snub after Anthony Hopkins won for his work in The Father.

Chadwick‘s brother Derrick spoke with TMZ and said they were not upset and they did not consider him losing to Anthony a snub in any way.

“I’m sure [Anthony] would [wish him the best] if Chad won,” Derrick said. He added that “the family isn’t upset or agitated” because “every nominated actor was excellent and deserving of the award.”

Derrick continued, saying, “the family wishes Hopkins and his family all the best.”

Derrick added that for Chadwick, an “Oscar would have been an achievement, but was never an obsession.”
